Music as Therapy International provides introductory training to staff caring for people living with dementia. Projects are delivered within the care setting, and are led by music therapists.
The charity’s music therapists share skills and resources with participating care practitioners over a 6-8 week period, so they have the confidence, experience, resources and expertise to use music in care themselves - long after they have completed the training. This is most often through ongoing group music sessions or by using music to enhance opportunities for interaction with individuals.
The charity then provides support and sustainability activities for its new partners so that they can not only ‘get started’ with music sessions – but so they can ‘keep going.’
Projects are delivered in response to request, and are tailored to the needs of the setting. If you are interested in using music to enhance care at your setting, please do get in touch.
