Musical Walkabout CIC provides a variety of person-centred, engaging music interactions to assist people to live well with dementia.
Pre-COVID-19, 1-2-1 and group music sessions were delivered in person, in care homes, day centres and acute geriatric wards in the South East of England.
Currently, we are delivering our services remotely online via Zoom with Risk Assessments and Participant Registrations in place to ensure Covid-secure delivery, allowing us to broaden our reach significantly.
In 2021 Arts Council England are funding Musical Walkabout to deliver a UK wide project called THRIVE.
THRIVE is a multi-faceted project with 4 different training activities. These groups use music to assist people to live well with dementia, focusing on early intervention as well as end of life care. Social prescribing and Creative care Planning are at the heart of THRIVE's ethos, with projects co-curated with people living with a young onset dementia, varied health and social care staff and people in caring roles.
