City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO)

The CBSO offers a range of activities for older people and care settings, presented in an accessible and engaging way. Through our work with older people and care settings, we hope to tackle common issues that older people can face, such as loneliness and isolation. We also aim to present engaging and enriching outreach opportunities that are accessible to all, including those living with dementia, as well as their families and carers for a shared and social experience.

Our older people's projects are specially programmed by CBSO musicians, who have been trained in dementia awareness and have direct experience of working in care settings. Activities are designed to engage audiences in ways that might evoke memories, as well as allow audience members to express themselves and feel included in the musical experience, through participatory activities that accompany the music.

We currently have three different strands of activities for older people and those living with dementia, all of which are part of our Cuppa Concerts series. Find out more at cbso.co.uk/cuppa-concerts
